Hello! Let me introduce myself.

I’m Jess! Artisan home baker, herbalist in training, and organic farmer, here to teach you how to garden, cook, use herbs, and more!

I recently did a bold, scary, and exciting thing…I left my full-time career as an RN to pursue all the things that ignite my passion: herbs, gardening, food, and to reconnect with nature and my humanness. 🙂

To support myself on this new life path, I have launched a new Artisan Bakeshop and Apothecary! Here you’ll find my famous highly reviewed baked goods, delicious herbal teas, body care products and more! I would love your support if you live in the Metro Detroit Area (the shop is currently pickup or local delivery only).

When I am not baking, gardening, or cooking, I am pursuing my certification as a Registered Herbalist through the American Herbalists Guild! (I hope to open my own practice as a clinical herbalist in a few years, I look forward to seeing clients in my future medicine garden over a cup of tea and muffins 🙂

I am working my way through Rosemary Gladstar’s Science and Art of Herbalism Course, will attend The Great Lakes Herb Faire for the first time this year, and look forward to taking more classes in Southeast Michigan and connecting with other local herbalists!

Please subscribe to my YouTube Channel to support and follow my journey, learn new skills as I learn them, and see cute videos of my two dogs and two cats! <3

Why an Artisan Bakeshop and Apothecary?

Much like Arthur Dent, from my favorite the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series by Douglas Adams, finds peace as a sandwich maker on a distant planet after traveling through space and time…I have found much joy baking and creating apothecary goods in my little home kitchen here on planet Earth!

More about the Artisan Bakeshop

I LOVE BAKING! I take my time, and bake everything with attention to detail and love. I use only the finest organic, non-GMO, fair trade ingredients, sourced locally when possible.

Everything in the store is made fresh to order, from scratch, by Jess!

I have been working on my vegan and dairy free baking for years, and I am proud to offer many options for all diets. I also have delicious butter and pasture raised eggs for those that prefer. A lot of my recipes I developed to create healthier alternatives to the store bought muffins my husband Chuck loves to eat!

For anything made with my homemade sourdough starter, Genevieve, I long ferment it in the fridge for at least 24 hours and usually 72 hours. This gives the yeast more time to break down the proteins in the flour, adding more vitamins and nutrients to the bread, and making it easier for us to digest. This process takes a lot of time and labor, well worth it!!!

Porch pickup orders in West Dearborn, Michigan. Pickup address will be provided after payment is received.

More about the Artisan Apothecary

As a beginning herbalist, I am so excited to announce my new Apothecary, watch is grow with products as I grow as an herbalist!

I make everything by hand using herbs I grow myself in my organic garden, and from organic farms in MI. For things not available in MI I buy from certified organic, fair trade, suppliers like Mountain Rose Herbs or Rosemary’s Garden. I infuse everything I make with love and gratitude.

The Jess from Earth Shop operates under the Michigan Cottage Food Law. All goods are made in a home kitchen that has not been inspected by the Michigan Department of Agriculture & Rural Development. Goods are prepared in a home kitchen where potential cross contamination of allergens like peanuts, wheat, eggs, etc. is possible.

Thank you for your support! If you have ideas for products you’d like to see in the shop please email me! – Jess
